Just a brief note.  Today I was driving to work in the pouring rain and I saw a lit sign warning me of “inclement weather”.  I almost ran off the road when I did a doubletake checking out that sign.  In a country where we can’t even use apostrophes properly, is it really a good idea to choose the word “inclement” to describe lousy driving conditions to people who are travelling at 55 miles an hour?  Please don’t misunderstand, I’m neither the grammar police nor a language snob.  I just think that sign would have communicated better if it had said “bad weather.  drive safely.”

Take note of the fact that I didn’t hit the brakes, pull out my phone and snap a picture of that sign.  I’ll bet you someone else did though…
